OSHAWA TOURISM STREET TEAM MEMBERS

Overview
Oshawa Tourism is assembling a high-energy Event Team to support a variety of tourism activations and community festivals throughout the city. If you're passionate about local experiences and enjoy fast-paced, hands-on work, this opportunity is for you.
These roles are event-based only and do not involve regular weekly hours. Team members will be scheduled according to the Oshawa Tourism event calendar, primarily during evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Event Opertations Support

Assist with the set-up and teardown of event ifrastructure (e.g. tents, tables, signage, equipment).

Transport, load, and unload event materials such as boxes, bins, banners, and promotional supplies.

Provide logistical support on-site to help ensure smooth event execution.
Tourism Ambassador Duties

Represent Oshawa Tourism at community festivals and events in a friendly, approachable manner.

Share information about local attractions, upcoming events, and tourism campaigns such as the Hometown Tourism Challenge, the Convergence Music and Art Festival and the Oshawa Halloween Boo Bash.

Distribute materials and answer questions from visitors to create a positive experience.
Visitor Engagement

Create a welcomeing environment for both residents and visitors.

Promote Oshawa as a vibrant, must-see destination through storytelling and local knowledge.
Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-
Energetic, proactive and comfortable working in team settings
-
Physically capable of:
-
Lifting and carrying items up to 40lbs
-
Assembling tents and setting up displays
-
Working outdoors for extended periods
-

Flexible availability, especially on weekends, evenings, and holidays

Knowledge of Oshawa's attractions and community assets
-
Bilingualism and/or CPR/First Aid certification are considered assets
Additional Details
-
Pay Rate: $17.50/hour
-
Schedule: Shift availability will depend on event scheduling. Some months may have more opportunties than others.

Training: Orientation and event-specific training will be provided.
