Can you believe January is almost here? Just because the holidays are coming to an end doesn’t mean the fun needs to stop! In fact, the opposite, as Oshawa will soon play host to the 2023 Canadian Tire National Figure Skating Championships!
Get ready because from January 9 to 15, approximately 250 of the best skaters in the country will be competing for their spot on the 2023 Canadian National Team. Skaters will face off in an epic battle of the blades to find the top competitor in women’s, men’s, pair, ice dance, and synchronized skating categories.
Whether you are a skating enthusiast or not, you won’t want to miss two-time Olympian Keegan Messing, as this may be your last chance to see him perform live after news of his retirement at the end of the 2023 season.
Other athletes to follow include Piper Gilles and Paul Poirer, who are ranked among the world’s top ice dancers and will be competing for their third consecutive National Skating Championship title against several decorated competitors; and Deanna Stellato-Dudek, who is returning from a 16-year retirement to compete in the pairs skating category.
