Teddy's - An Oshawa Tradition!

Well, this was another surprising food experience. I hadn’t been to Teddy’s Restaurant in Oshawa for decades, and I'm happy to say that they're still just as wonderful after all this time. For over 45 years, Teddy’s has been an Oshawa staple and continues to thrive because it offers incredible value and top-notch service!

I went on a Monday for lunch, and the place was packed! It was so busy, and I could clearly see a wide variety of diners enjoying meals while chatting happily with their dining companions. I was immediately impressed by my server, Liz, who was incredibly welcoming and delivered exceptional service. Liz walked me through their best sellers, and I decided to follow her recommendations.

I started with the Veal Parmesan Dinner, which came with a bowl of Cream of Mushroom Soup and large dinner rolls. As I waited, I couldn’t resist the warm, freshly baked rolls with butter, which were fantastic. The mushroom soup, made in-house, was hearty and fresh, the perfect comfort food for a chilly day.

Then the Veal Parm came out, accompanied by a generous portion of spaghetti topped with their house-made red meat sauce, which was simply outstanding. When I say I was shocked by the portion size, I wasn’t kidding, but then I tried the Veal itself—WOW. Usually, I’m not a fan of Veal, but this dish changed my mind. It was a large, tender piece, perfectly seasoned and cooked. It truly was the highlight of the meal.

Next, I ordered the Corned Beef Sandwich, which was massive and absolutely delicious! It came with a mountain of fries, and the sandwich itself was packed with tender, flavourful meat - all served on a fresh, soft bun. Each bite was better than the last, and adding some Dijon mustard took it to another level. Honestly, this was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in Oshawa in years. Absolute perfection!

Liz, my amazing server, suggested I try one of their burgers next. I decided on a classic cheeseburger with all the standard toppings, served on a fresh bun alongside a large portion of fries. I’m pretty picky about burgers (I find many places overcook them), but this one was perfect! The burger came out huge and cooked to just the right level. The toppings were fresh, and the whole burger was perfectly balanced. It was a savoury, juicy masterpiece. Another delightful surprise!

Finally, I had to try the Coconut Cream Pie. Liz insisted I couldn’t leave without having a slice, so I went for it. When it arrived, I couldn’t believe the size of the piece—it looked like an entire pie! They make their own whipped cream in-house, and the flavour of the pie was out of this world. The sweetness was just right, and it was the perfect finish to the meal.

I was honestly blown away by this place. This is not the Teddy’s I remember from my earlier visits. So much has improved. I even went back the next day for lunch! This place offers incredible portions at prices that don’t reflect how generous they are. If you haven’t been in a while, it’s definitely worth a revisit. I highly recommend this spot—and don’t forget to try their amazing pies!
