What's on in the 'Shwa - August 1 to 6

The Countdown to Convergence is on, with more and more makers being added and announced throughout August and September! Along with the headliners, The Strumbellas, singer/songwriter Cale Crowe, hip-hop artist Eddy Jones, pop artist Haddix, the alt-pop NERiMA, alt-rocker Matthew Holtby, and R&B act Delon Om have been announced. An exciting day out to get educated about Oshawa’s music scene.

Don't miss the Strumbellas at CONVERGENCE on September 23!

Speaking of education (see what I did there?) School of Rock AllStars, a touring band of teenage

musicians from across the globe, is making a stop at the Biltmore Theatre on August 4. This is a 3 p.m. matinee, and musicians from the local area will be joining in. It's all ages too, with plenty of familiar tunes, from classics to modern rock.

Lots of tunes this week at the Atria too; Wednesday, August 2 is a must-see show. The Cursed Tour features a whole lotta stoner rock from Quebec in Occult Witches, and Tumble, 70’s sounding psyche rock. The legend, Ian Blurton, produced Tumble, so it's a guaranteed trip! Oshawa’s psy-fi rockers, Vs The Borg, are also on the bill.

The Penalty Box performs at the Bollocks Pub on August 4.

Thursday, August 3, it’s a metal smorgasbord with the 80s thrash-influenced Sunset Hate, plus special guests Burdizzo, Gravearth, and BattleSmash, bringing all kinds of guitar wizardry. On Saturday, August 5, the metal-flavoured mayhem continues with Social Strife, Dead Silence, 7Day Riot, and King Moon Racer from Minneapolis.

Friday, August 4, sees the monthly return of the Penalty Box to the Bollocks Pub with special guest Brian Ruddy. And keep in mind that the City of Oshawa also has music at Memorial Park! On Thursday, August 3, Blue Moose will be in the Bandshell starting at 7:30 p.m.
