Your September Soundtrack Starts Here: Convergence, Local Stages, and More!

Yay! Welcome back to the Oshawa music scene. Let's put aside the annual Convergence Music and Art Festival, which runs September 19 through 21, 2025, for now, as that’s a whole other story, but yah, September is a month packed with some homegrown Shwasomeness!

Don't miss rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Tribute Communities Centre on Thursday, September 18.

Leading up to Convergence — happening Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20, with before-and-after parties running September 19–21 — make it a full weekend getaway! Arrive a day early to catch rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Tribute Communities Centre on Thursday, September 18. Book a four-day stay to enjoy the free events and secure tickets to some of the hottest before-and-after parties in town.

These include a tribute to Van Morrison on September 19 and Almost Hip, a tribute to the Tragically Hip on September 20 at the historic Regent Theatre.

Keep the Convergence weekend going with tickets to K-Oz at the BOND|ST Event Centre.
Keep the Convergence weekend going with tickets to K-Oz at the BOND|ST Event Centre.

On September 20 at BOND|ST Events Centre, Whitby-raised Juno-winning hip-hop legend K-Os plays a rare show. And the Biltmore Theatre leads into Convergence with  ’90s Californian ska punks the Mad Caddies, with special guests The Corps and the Anti-Queens, who played Convergence last year. Canadian alt-country act the Skydiggers will give you everything on September 19, and Oshawa-based funk tribute band the Professors of Funk play on September 20.

The Tribute Communities Centre, the Regent Theatre, the Biltmore Theatre, and BOND|ST Events Centre are all within two blocks downtown and within easy walking distance to two hotels: the Holiday Express Inn and La Quinta Hotel. And Convergence takes place in the streets around these venues... so I think that's a plan for sure.

There are of course events right through September at these venues and at the other smaller clubs and bars such as Cork and Bean, the TwoTwoTwo, the Local Lounge, and the Atria.

The Regent has a series of bands coming through, beginning with the Lightfoot Band on September 7; Epic Eagles—the Definitive Eagles Tribute on September 13; Walk Right Back—The Everly Brothers Story 2025 on September 25; and Totally 80s Night on September 27.

BOND|ST Events Centre has California-based American band Devil Makes Three on September 11; these folks combine bluegrass, blues, New Orleans and soul with some punk rock to make some tracks produced by Ted Hutt, who works with Old Crow Medicine Show, Dropkick Murphys and Gaslight Anthem, so that's the range, pretty great. September 24, there’s a tribute to Country star Luke Combs (love that song ‘In case I ain’t around”), and Canadian indie rockers Hollerado are in on September 27.

The Biltmore Theatre has a great run of shows too, with its own Country night on September 5 featuring Highway 57, Brodie Bell, and Ryan Scott and a tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne on September 12 with Sons of Sabbath and Crazy Babies. September 16 rising punk band the Dirty Nill are in as they tour their latest release ‘The Lash’ (‘Evil Side’ is a great track).

Wrap up your Convergence experience with tickets to Cuff the Duke at the Biltmore Theatre, September 26.
Wrap up your Convergence experience with tickets to Cuff the Duke at the Biltmore Theatre, September 26.

And, on September 26, hometown heroes Cuff The Duke play a make-up date for one cancelled show earlier in the year. Cuff took a hiatus for a decade but are back with a new album ‘Breaking Dawn’, one of their best I think. They will be joined by some other homies, Darren Roy Clarke and Matt Holtby.  So if after all that Convergence hometown loving you are looking for a nightcap to cap it all off this is the gig that will seal the deal.

So yay September, lots going on, so much happenings you might just have to book the month here.
